Product Care

To get the most from your cycling apparel its important to care for it properly. We spent over 12 months testing, retesting and then retesting some more and we learnt a thing or two along the way. So, in addition to the product care label you'll find on each of our garments, we've also got some tips to help lengthen the life of your new kit.

The Do's

Air dry after use! Presumably you're not diving straight into the washing when you return from a ride. So, take your gear off, turn it inside out and hang it up instead of throwing it in a pile. If you can hang it out outside in the shade - even better! But otherwise, use that 'dedicated' chair of yours or a clothes horse to air out your kit.

Shade is your friend! Your kit see's enough of the sun on your rides. Dry it in the shade after washing, this will help it keep its shape, reduce fading and increase its life.

Wash separately! If you're anything like us, you ride - a lot! So washing your cycling gear separately from your day clothes won't feel like a waste of water. Washing separately avoids your kit rubbing or getting caught on denims, hooks, zips, velcro or buttons. Garments turned inside out, with zips zipped all the way up, on a gentle wash cycle with like colours will help keep your kit looking like new.

Use a wash bag! Using a wash bag will reduce the impact your washing machine has on your kit, and help it retains its shape better.

Read the care label! Always follow the product care instructions on the care label of your garment.

The Dont's

Avoid contact with chemicals! If you live in a hot climate you might be tempted to lather on sunscreen, however if it comes in contact with your kit it can cause fading or discolouration. You could try sun sleeves as an alternative on your arms. Other chemicals to avoid include fake tan, fabric softener and bleach.

Never soak! Particularly in harsh chemicals or extreme temperatures. This can cause a break down in the fabric as well as impact colour brightness.

Avoid high temperatures! Dryers and irons will subject your garment to high temperatures which is likely to cause distortion in the fabric and can break down the fibres in lycra.

Avoid wringing or squeezing! Gentle wash cycles often have a low spin speed to extract water from clothes. Don't be tempted to 'help' the drying process by wringing out after the cycles finished. Our fabric is light and breathable - it will dry quickly!

Don't dry in closed spaces! Make sure there's decent airflow where you hang your garments to dry.
